KELLY MOORE
FACILITIES MANAGER
Kelly Moore brings a wealth of experience to his role as Facilities Manager, a position he was invited to take over in 2022. As a retired commercial diver, Kelly’s 20 years in the commercial gas industry included “bottom time” welding and pipefitting underwater. Upon moving to Nashville, Kelly embarked on a second career as a tower crane operator with Local Union 369. He contributed to the construction of several buildings that grace Nashville’s downtown skyline.
These days, there’s never a dull moment. Maintaining safe and smooth operations of 350 acres could mean projects as varied as diagramming camp’s water infrastructure, ensuring bells and alarms are in order, or welding repair on one of camp’s most important pieces of equipment: the 4th of July celebration smoker. In the summer, Kelly educates while he delegates, teaching staff and volunteers how to safely operate weed-eaters, zero-turn lawn mowers, reciprocating saws, hammer drills and other tools.
Kelly credits Tommy and Margaret Hagey for creating a work environment that prioritizes family. He and his wife, Melissa Gascon Moore (camper and counselor, ‘87-‘99), take full advantage of living on camp property. Their son Otis (born in 2016) and Willa (born in 2018) can be found herding goats, hiking, and calling out, “Dad! I lost a tooth!” over the walkie talkie. “I’m not just passing through,” Kelly says. “I’m here to do my part contribute to the legacy of Camp Marymount.”
